Maracanã
Fazenda Maracanã is a fantastic example of how tradition and innovation can work hand in hand. The fazenda has been in the Junqueira family since 1872 and is a very rare example of sustained female ownership of a farm over many generations. The great-great-grandmother of Marina Diniz Jungueira, first purchased the farm in the 19th century and it has been owned by women dedicated to high quality coffee production ever since. When Marina took over the management, they set themselves the task of building on this impressive heritage. They maintained and improved the quality of the coffee, whilst passionately striving to improve the social and environmental impact of the fazenda in the local community.
